Education: Showcase of 18th Century Skills

DEMONSTRATION ONLY: Two-hour sessions*                                           

Maximum - 8 groups or classes (25 students each)-approximately 200 total. Demonstrations are 12 minutes each

with 3 minutes between to move about. Fee: $125 per program

            Pierced Tin                               Cornhusk Craft

            Quilting                                     Silhouettes

            Rubbings

DEMONSTRATION WITH CRAFT: (Students make a project in class.) Two-hour sessions*

Maximum 1 class or 25 students per craftsperson. When several

crafts are demonstrated, the classes will rotate among the classrooms to watch each demonstration; students will remain with the last volunteer to make one craft.

Fee is $125 per craft, plus $1 per student for materials.

 

Available Crafts:

Cornhusk Flowers: All grades; students will need a pair of scissors.

Pierced Tin: Grades 3-12; students will need a hammer plus several magazines taped together on which to pound.

Theorem (stenciling): Grades 2-12; students will need old shirt or smock. Quilting, Silhouettes and Rubbings: Grade 3-12

Museum Volunteers' Transportation: A mileage fee of 30 cents per mile round trip is charged, plus any tolls for programs outside of UnionCounty.

* Session times may vary in length depending on number of crafts being presented, number of children involved, and age or attention span of children.

Showcase will not be scheduled two days in a row.
