Early window sashes (6 over 6) were found in the basement with some panes still intact. The broken ones were replaced with 18th Century glass. The labor involved 100 hours per window. The corner fireplace in this room and the one in the back room share a common chimney, a not unusual practice in practical design used in Colonial homes. The mantel, although not original, is from an 18th Century farmhouse. It replaces a small Victorian one which was inappropriate, With the exception of the original handmade brick facing, the entire chimney has been completely renovated with new bricks and mortar, and dampers added to make it a working fireplace. The inside wall opposite the windows has been reconstructed. During the 19th century it had been opened and sliding "pocket doors" installed connecting this room with the back one. There are large beams, exactly like those in the back room" concealed under the ceiling. The six-fielded panel Georgian door creates a decorative effect. The wide floor boards are original.
